Walking in Broadway

Here below some pictures taken on Broadway, during a cloudy and freezy day! Yes because during the first three days the weather was really cold but fortunately we were well equipped! Broadway is a very long street and we did not have enough time to walk through all, so we decided to have a look to only a part of the street that goes from Astor PL. to Wall St. ( I recommend the great Sushi&Noodle in the corner between Broadway e Cortland St., one of the best noodles that I’ve ever eaten). As you can see in the pictures, there are a lot of shops and I got crazy when I discovered  one of my favourite shop, All Saint, where I spent a huge amount of money just because I fell in love with an amazing pair of leather pants. Anyway… from Broadway you can walk to east and discover some characteristic districts like Soho, Little Italy and Chinatown. We loved Soho and these parts of the city center.

Qui sotto alcune foto fatte a Broadway durante una giornata nuvolosa e gelata. Si perchè per tutti i primi tre giorni il tempo era veramente freddo, ma noi fortunatamente ben equipaggiati! Broadway è una via veramente lunghissima e non abbiamo avuto tempo di percorrerla tutta, così abbiamo deciso di vedere la parte che va da Astor PL. a Wall St. ( a proposito vi segnalo l’ottimo Sushi&Noodle all’angolo fra Broadway e Cortland St., uno dei migliori noodles mai mangiati). Come potete vedere nelle foto, ci sono un sacco di negozi in quella zona e io sono diventata pazza quando ho scoperto che c’era pure All Saint, uno dei miei negozi preferiti, dove ho dilapidato le mie finanze, innamorandomi di un paio di pantaloni in pelle. Comunque… da Broadway, potete camminare verso est e scoprire i caratteristici quartieri di Soho, Little Italy e Chinatown. Noi abbiamo adorato Soho e questa parte di città.

My last trip in the Big Apple

As I probably told you, once ago I finally went to New York ! I have spoken about this trip with my fiancè  so many times and finally we did it. You can’t imagine my excitement when we landed in Newark Airport and then when we arrived at our apartament close to Park Avenue. The day next we started to explore the Big Apple. I will not bore you with the descriptions of the city or about the place you can visit (I think that there are a lot of guidebook on internet), so I leave you with some pics from Moma and 5Th Avenue. Enjoy it!

Come probabilmente vi avevo accennato, una settimana fa, finalmente, sono volata a New York! Avevo parlato di questo viaggio un sacco di volte con il mio ragazzo e finalmente ce l’abbiamo fatta! Non potete immaginare la mia felicità quando siamo atterrati all’aereoporto di Newark e poi quando siamo arrivati all’appartamento che abbiamo preso in affitto vicino a Park Avenue. Così il giorno dopo abbiamo iniziato ad esplorare la Big Apple. Non vi annoierò con descrizioni sulla città o parlando di posti da visitare (penso che su internet potete trovare un sacco di guide o info in merito), ma vi lascio con alcune foto scattate al Moma e sulla 5th Avenue. Piccolo excursus su Dublino

As I’ve told you in the previous post, at the beginning of September I spent  few days in Dublin. I have never been there before, and I discovered a little precious irish stone. The city center is not so big  and you can easily visit by feet. Starting from O’Connel St. (where I recommend to go shopping close to Henry St. e Mary.St), you can walk near by the Trinity College up to Grafton St., the main commercial artery. Here you can find fashion stores like American Apparel, River’s Island, Top Shop.. . At the end of Grafton St. there is a big multifloor mall: the Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre. It is an 80′s version of a commercial nineteenth-century gallery. It worths to have a look not so much for the shops but for the gallery itself and for the last floor that hosts a collection of more or less known artists. In front of the commercial center there is the homonym parc; a green space of 9 hectares close to the city centre, where I strongly suggest to have a pic-nic on the immaculate green lawns…weather conditions permitting!

Leaving this area, going towards west side you will arrive at the Soda district, full of independent boutique (like Om Diva), several shops, bar and clubs. Here there is George Street Arcade too, a market inside one elegant gothic-victorian gallery, where you can find very interesting stores and stands that sell new and used clothes, secondhand books, vinyls, hats, posters, etc. Left the market, going to north, you will arrive to Temple Bar, one of the most visited area of Dublin, especially in the evening, because here there is a big concentration of pubs and clubs in the traditional irish style. Temple Bar represents the heart of “movida” and fun of irish night!

Come avevo anticipato nel post precedente a inizio settembre ho fatto qualche giorno a Dublino, città che non avevo mai visto prima e si è rivelata una piccola pietra d’Irlanda. Il centro non è molto grande  e si gira tranquillamente a piedi. Partendo da O’Connsel St. (dove comunque vi consiglio di fare una vasca per negozi, specie nelle vicine Henry St. e Mary.St), si può fare una bella passeggiata costeggiando il Tinity College fino alla zona di Grafton St. principale arteria commerciale, dove potrete trovare tutti i negozi alla moda e le varie catene di abbigliamento e accessori (American Apparel, River’s Island, Top Shop…). Alla fine di Grafton St. c’è un grande centro commerciale su più piani, lo Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, che è una vera e propria versione anni ’80 di una galleria commerciale ottocentesca. Merita un giro all’interno non tanto per i negozi quanto per la galleria e l’ultimo piano che ospita una collezione di quadri di artisti più o meno conosciuti. Subito lì difronte, c’è l’ingresso all’omonimo parco, un polmone verde di ben 9 ettari all’interno della città, dove vi suggerisco fermarvi per un pic-nic sull’immacolato prato verde…condizioni meteo permettendo!

Da questa zona, spostandosi verso ovest si arriva al quartiere di Soda, ricco di boutique indipendenti (vedi Om Diva), negozi di vario genere, bar e discoteche. Qui c’è anche il George Street Arcade, un mercato coperto che si trova all’interno di un’elegante galleria gotico-vittoriana, in cui hanno sede degli interessanti negozi e bancarelle che vendono abiti nuovi e usati, libri di seconda mano, vinili, cappelli, poster, ecc. Lasciato il mercato e proseguendo verso nord si arriva alla zona di Temple Bar, uno dei quartieri più visitati di Dublino, specie la sera, perchè qui si concentra una grossa quantità di pub e locali serali in tipico stile irlandese, quindi rappresenta il cuore della movida e baldoria delle notti dublinesi.
