My tribute to the Director’s blog to the the “Save the Earth”topic:
All started one day when God created the sky and the earth. The earth that at the beginning was shapeless and empty then came alive. Then God created the sea, the mountains, the sky and the stars. The plant life, the animals and finally the human being. Then we know what happened. It is the story of fights and conquests for the domain of people and the hegemony on the earth. But also stories of big scientific discoveries, and poets, famous artists and stories of writers that have been handed on from generation to generation so that the fruit of the lived and the knowledge has been preserved and arrived to the present day. We, human people, have become the dominant species, thanks to all the progress that we have done over the centuries, so we have conditioned the enviroment and all the others forms of life. The civilizations have evolved and the technology is evolving ever more sustained, so I wonder where we will be in 50s years and at that point my mind is bombed by a sequence of images and concepts that travels at the speed of light and they project themselves on who knows what galaxy or unknown universes. But then I stopped myself and I try to take back to reality. Yes because the reality is one that is out there, the word that we’re living just now. The here and now. The garden that I see downstairs, the neighbour’s vegetable garden, the river that flows nearby and brings water. Once more…the sea of my hometowns, the mountains before, the border territories, the wonderful gulf that frames the magnificent Unità d’Italia square, its historical caffee where one time famous poets and intellectuals were used to meet. So travelling between the past and the present I think that the time to loosen the reins a little, to enjoy the fruits that mother Earth gives us every day, showing us less greedy and most grateful has probably arrived, after all we are still “human” beings.
